I booked this resort because I received a magnificent deal from CheapCaribbean.com. That was my first mistake. We had room problems from day 1. My husband and I had left home at 5:30 in the morning to catch our flight. We were put into a room at the hotel with an air conditioner that was not working properly. Instead of... more

We stayed Aug 14-18, 2008. Going in I wasn't sure what to expect. I had read both good and bad reviews on the hotel. So, we got there and the rental car experience (airport) was a little messy but we made it down Rt 3 to the Rio Mar. The hotel and grounds are nice. Two golf courses. The lobby... more

This was our first stop on our honeymoon and the resort was a perfect place to relax and unwind after the wedding. We had a double queen room on the bottom floor and we didn't face the ocean, but we didn't really care. Our room had a refrigerator that looked old, but worked fine. In theory, there was an extra... more

People who are in the hotel business love referring to the racket they operate as the "Hospitality Industry" and to their brick and mortar as "accomadations". I am sure most travelers would agree that the vast majority of hotel operations are neither hospitable or accomadating. The folks at the Rio Mar appear hell bent on bucking the standards of their... more

We just returned from the Rio Mar. Our room was very nice, high ceilings, with a ocean view. We found the bed very comfortable, with a nice selection of pillows. The staff was very helpful. Jesus at the concierge desk was very helpful. Had the hand and foot ritual at the Spa. It was a splurge, but I really enjoyed... more

Average rooms. There are some good restaurants but their Sea Food Place "Shimas" is a real disaster. The salad dressings are worse than the ones you could buy at a local grocery store from Kraft. The food was not even seasoned, just imagine a 5 year old cooking a lobster and that is what you should expect from this place.... more

Well this hotel wasnt bad for the price. Let me explain. I am one who goes to timeshare presentations, because they offer you a nice trip for a low price. Now for 5 days I paid $495. When I went to our timeshare presentation, the person said we had a great deal coming here because the usual rate for the... more

My family (husband, 13 year old and 18 year old daughters) stayed at the Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort in Puerto Rico for a week (8/08) and loved this place. The grounds are beautiful, the landscape is maintained meticulously, the pools are comfortable and clean and the hotel is beautiful and easy to navigate. We stayed on the 4th floor... more

If the beach is the most important thing for you and your family, then this is the resort for you. Rooms are really standard looking - think "super nice motel" on the inside. Beach is huge, sand is soft, waves are not too big, but good for boogie boarding. Breakfast is the type of buffet with omelet bar that makes... more

My fiance and I stayed at Rio Mar from 7/28 to 8/1 and we did not want the trip to end. We read the reviews before going and they were very helpful. As others have said, it is a little expensive but what resort isn't? It is expected that you will spend a little more money when you go on... more
