My wife and I stayed here for three nights. The bus from the airport drops you off right round the corner from the hotel, so not too far to walk. Found some of the reception staff to be lacking personality and basic manners but this wasn't a just a Strathcona thing, however it's disappointing after a lengthy flight. Rooms are... more

I've stayed here a few times for over-nights, but not for long-term stay. I've found the rooms very basic, yet clean. What you pay for is a convenient location, not atmospher or views. This hotel is directly across from Union Station which is very convenient. Safe neighbourhood. Recommended for business or single/double travellers only. Not really a children oriented hotel. more

We stayed in the Strathcona last September (2007). It definately is a basic hotel, but the staff are great, the rooms are clean and it is in an ideal location for anyone wanting to explore Toronto. I would definately stay there again. One tip is to avoid the breakfast and hop over the road to Tim Hortons and pick up... more

I really can not fault the Strathcona hotel! The location is amazing, right in the heart of everything, with fantastic transport links to anywhere you may want to visit - the train station is literally at the end of the road. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and incredibly clean. The rooms are made up promptly and with thought every... more

My husband and I have a cottage about 90 minutes east of Toronto, so we wanted to find accommodations for overnights in Toronto. We first chose the Strathcona because it was affordable and within walking distance of the train station. Although the rooms are small, we have always encountered friendly service and clean facilities. We think the dining room is... more

So to preface this review: yes the hotel was cheap, and yes the location is great. That being said, we were three men booking a room with 2 beds and a cot. It was like this was the first time this request has ever been made, because we had to be moved twice thanks to the tiny, tiny, little rooms.... more

If I could give a zero I would. This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Overpriced. Tiny tiny tiny and rude staff. The rooms were dirty and the staff was not so nice. Honestly -- worst use of money EVER. I'm not usually offended so easily, but honestly, this was so below standards it was terrible. more

If your looking for a nice hotel for under $100, the Strathcona is a very good choice. The location in downtown Toronto is perfect. Close to all attractions and not to far from many others. The hotel is very clean and gives you a good comfortable feeling. Very friendly and helpful staff. I will go back for sure my next... more

I only stayed for one night and have no complaints about the location, room or hotel facilities in general. Everything was clean comfortable and met my needs. But surly doesnt begin to describe the front desk staff I encountered. The man who checked me in was curt dismissive and unhelpful. Checkout next morning was similar. I had just endured a... more

The room was clean and wonderful in every way!The maid was there to tidy up daily and we were given fresh sheets,new... more
